Cone Beam and 3D Imaging

Dental cone beam computed tomography (CT) is a special type of x-ray equipment used when regular dental are not sufficient. Our office may use this technology to produce three dimensional (3-D) images of your teeth, soft tissues, nerve pathways and bone in a single scan. Images obtained with CBCT allow for more precise treatment planning.

Did you know…

that Cone Beam 3D images are similar to the images available through CT scans? The difference is that there is far less radiation exposure, it takes less time, and the images can easily be obtained in a dental office. Cone Beam 3D images can also be stored digitally for future reference or for easy transfer between providers.

Our office will use these scans for a number of applications including:

-Dental implant placement.

-Diagnosis and surgical planning of impacted teeth.

-Locating the origin of pain or pathology.

-Sinus and nasal cavity analysis.

-Airway analysis (Sleep Apnea).

-Detection and treatment of orofacial tumors.
